Oconomowoc High School students deliver outstanding performance at Hackathon

Five Oconomowoc High School students took on a “Hackathon” challenge in St. Louis, Missouri, on Oct. 20-21. Despite the name of the event, the Center for Advanced Professional Studies Network Hackathon did not focus on computer challenges.

Rather, the competition saw teams take on the challenge of redesigning a classroom, considering the needs of a modern learning environment, lighting, furniture, space use and budget. Teams had five hours to create a plan and present their rationale to a large audience and panel of judges. Plans had to include visual models and budget proposals.

Junior Madison LaPaz was part of the first-place team, and senior Cole Frost was on the second-place team, according to a news release from the Oconomowoc Area School District. Read more.
