School wants to give TigerPath capstones
Why do I need to learn this?
Parents and teachers know the question from students well. At Hutchinson High School, educators are getting pretty good at making the answer easier to find with the TigerPath program. With its four academies — STREAM, Sci Hi, Business and Human Services — students explore career fields with greater depth as they progress from year to year, take hands-on classes and in some cases earn skill certifications.
Now the school is looking to put a cap on that experience by teaming up with a national network.
“The Center for Advanced Professional Studies programs are nationally recognized, innovative high school programs,” said Patrick Walsh, Hutchinson High School principal. “Students fast forward into their future and are fully immersed in a professional culture, solving real world problems, using industry standard tools and are mentored by actual employers, all while receiving high school and college credit. CAPS is an example of how business, community and public education can partner to produce personalized learning experiences that educate the workforce of tomorrow, especially in high skill, high demand jobs.”
Teachers in CAPS districts become part of a network of like-minded educators, and the district gains access to CAPS’ professional network. Read more.
